NEC Turbo Express — Fully Recapped, LCD Upgraded & Restored | Handheld TurboGrafx-16

The NEC Turbo Express is one of the rarest and most sought-after handheld consoles ever made — a full TurboGrafx-16 in your pocket, built in 1990 with hardware that was ahead of its time. The problem is that every single one of them has failing capacitors by now. Leaking caps destroy the screen, kill the audio, and eventually render the board useless.

This one has been completely brought back to life. We tore it down, fixed every known failure point, and rebuilt it to outlast another 30 years.

What we've done to this Turbo Express:

• Full motherboard recap with Console5 caps including jailbar fix — eliminates the vertical line interference seen on aging units
• Installed an LCDDRV board with a brand new LCD screen — crisp, bright, and consistent from the moment you power it on
• New glass screen cover — scratch-free and clear
• Replaced the controller board with a newer version — tighter, more responsive button feel
• Designed the wiring harness to open like a book — the potentiometers for saturation, brightness, and contrast are fully accessible without disassembly
• Cleaned and polished the shell — small nicks and scratches consistent with a 30-year-old device, no cracks

Shell condition: Good This is a 30-year-old handheld that has been professionally restored. The shell shows minor nicks and light surface scratches consistent with its age — no cracks, no structural damage. The screen cover is brand new. All photos are of the actual unit you will receive.
